The UCAS reference is a statement about the student written by an appropriate referee, such as a tutor, head of year, or headteacher. The personal statement is an opportunity for the student to talk about who they are, why they want to take a particular course, and any relevant skills and experience they have. They can also make a note of any paid work they have completed.
